This story is part of the King Arthur unit. Story source: King Arthur: Tales of the Round Table by Andrew Lang and illustrated by H. J. Ford (1902).

A long time ago there was no king in Britain. Every knight tried to get the crown for himself. Merlin the magician decided that on Christmas they should all meet. They saw a large stone in the courtyard that said whoever could pull the sword from the stone would be the king of England.

They decided on New Year's Day a tournament should be held to see who could remove the sword from this stone. Sir Ector brought Sir Kay and his foster brother Arthur for the tournament. Kay realized he did not have his sword and begged Arthur to grab it for him. When Arthur came back the sword was not Kay's, but the sword from the stone. Sir Ector told Arthur this made him the rightful king, since this sword was enchanted and none could draw it that was not born a king. They put the sword back in and tried again, again Arthur could pull it out easily. They both sank to their knees in front of him, since he was now the king.

Merlin told Arthur in battle he would get a sword from the lady of the lake, she came to him and told him she would, but at a price. He must get her something she so desired. She would not ask for it yet, but in her own time. Arthur had fought many battles, but wanted a wife. He asked Merlin if he would have one. Merlin agreed that it was a good time to do that. He loved Guenevere and believed her to be the fairest maiden he had ever or will ever see.

He went to ask her father about the arrangement, and her father the king was so pleased, he did not think anyone would want to marry his daughter so high up and powerful. King Leodegrance gave his blessing that Arthur would marry her. He then knighted many cowherds who begged him to do so.

A damsel tricked merlin into teaching her magic. He told Arthur he knew that the sword would be stolen by a woman he trusted. One day Merlin showed Vivien a rock which he said great marvels were hidden. She asked if he would show her, and so he tried and she trapped him under the rock and buried him alive.

Introduction to All Things Sav

This photo was taken pre-COVID by my sister Hey guys! My name is Savannah, I am a Senior PR major at the University of Oklahoma with a concentration in pre-law and a minor in History! I am taking a gap year in order to prepare for law school and hopefully enroll in the fall of 2022. I don't necessarily have a dream job, but I've wanted to go into law since I was 5 years old and I saw a lawyer on a TV show, and for some reason that called me to the profession.  A weird fact about me is I've moved around a lot, I was born in Delaware, then moved to Georgia in Elementary school. In Middle School, I moved to Shanghai China and believe me growing up in a country where no one understands you is a bit frustrating, especially when middle school is already as difficult as it is. Then in High School, I moved to Kansas, and that is why I am currently at the University of Oklahoma today!  I will say I absolutely hate sad movies or dramatic movies, but for some reason, I watched the

Week 7 Story: My Tiny Horse

Photo:  Timur Romanov on Unsplash  Story Source: The Little Hunting Dog   There once was a boy, Ernest, who lived on a farm with his parents. He had not many friends, and he kept to himself for the most part. The farm that he lived on was very desolate, not too many people around and he had to be homeschooled. One night his parents were sitting at the dinner table talking closely when Ernest walked in nervously.  "Ernest, go to sleep sweetheart," his Maw exclaimed, "your Paw and I are just discussing adult matters, you don't need to worry about."  "Maw, I am an adult though!" Ernest looked at his parents, upset that they would keep things from him like this. "We're selling our farm, son." Paw said, unable to look his boy in the eyes.  "But Paw.... what about the animals? Where will they go?" Ernest was beginning to worry because his animals were his only company. His parents looked away from him, ashamed at the lengths they had
